Half Hollow Hills Public Library
(Ellen Druda, Digital Services Supervisor)

Librarian Ellen Druda, from the Half Hollow Hills Community Library, will demonstrate a 3D printer and the prosthetic hands made by student volunteers.  The Half Hollow Hills Community Library began working with the E-Nable Community Foundation in 2015 after being inspired by an email from a college student looking to do a volunteer project with our 3D printer.  A well-attended kick off program lead to teens assembling assistive hands for community service, which are then passed along to E-Nable, and distributed where they can do the most good. The project brings together goals that Long Island LEADS holds dear: STEM education, maker skills, empathy, technology, team work, and adding value to the global community. Best of all – it’s “do-able” for librarians and teachers on a small or large scale!"

Paperplay
(
MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson, Certified Zentangle Teacher)
Paperplay will be presenting activities featuring both Origami and Zentangle®.  Origami is the art of folding paper.  It’s math that you can hold in your hand!  And Zentangle is a method of drawing that helps people to relax and de-stress.  There’s no wrong way to do it and anyone who can print their name already has all the skills necessary.  Both are fun, intergenerational activities that can be shared by all members of the family, 7-70.  And both use simple, inexpensive, readily available supplies.  You can even do them as green, recycling projects!

 501st Legion
(Chris Feehan curemode.com)
The 501st Legion is an all-volunteer worldwide organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work. We are known for representing bad guy characters like      Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, Bounty Hunters, and Sith Lords, in the most accurate way possible. We      are officially recognized by Disney / Lucas Film as their preferred costuming group. The Empire City Garrison is the local New York chapter of the 501st Legion.
